9.13. Vacuum amplifier

GENERAL INFORMATION

Elements of the vacuum amplifier

1. Vacuum hose
2. Laying
3. Pin
4. Check
5. Returnable spring
6. Vacuum amplifier

Work check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Squeeze out a brake pedal several times at the switched-off engine and check, that it each time stopped on one and that distance from a floor.
2. Squeeze out a pedal of a brake and start the engine. If the pedal fell a little, means, the vacuum amplifier works normally.

Tightness check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Start the engine and switch off it in one-two minutes of work. Slowly squeeze out a brake pedal several times. If by each pressing a brake pedal, she moves ever less, means, the vacuum amplifier is tight.
2. Squeeze out a brake pedal at the working engine, muffle the engine, without releasing a brake pedal. If in thirty seconds the pedal did not weaken, means, the vacuum amplifier is tight.

Removal

The vacuum amplifier is not subject to dismantling. Special tools which are not in each repair truck are necessary for its repair. In view of its essential influence on work of brakes, at failure, the amplifier it is necessary to replace.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a hose going from the engine to the vacuum amplifier. Be accurate and do not damage a hose at a detachment it from the vacuum amplifier.
2. Remove the main cylinder of brake system (see subsection 9.10).
3. Remove the bottom panel of furnish of a steering column (see subsection 11.23).
4. Remove a returnable spring of a pedal of a brake.
5. Find the pusher fork, connecting the vacuum amplifier and a brake pedal. Get to the check by means of flat-nose pliers and pull out a pin (it is specified by an average arrow).
6. Turn off and remove four nuts and the washers, fixing the vacuum amplifier to a back wall of an impellent compartment (are specified by shooters, the top right nut is not visible on an illustration). Probably, you should use a small lamp to make out them.
7. Remove the vacuum amplifier from a back wall of an impellent compartment.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation is carried out upside-down removals. Tighten nuts of fastening of the vacuum amplifier till the demanded moment of an inhaling specified in the section of technical characteristics at the beginning of this chapter. Use new to the check if old the check it was loosened.
2. At installation of the new vacuum amplifier it is necessary to measure a gap between the piston of the main cylinder and a pusher of the vacuum amplifier and if it is necessary, to adjust it.
3. By means of a micrometer for measurement of depth or a calliper measure distance from deepening on the main cylinder to a fixing flange of the main cylinder. Then, measure distance from the end of a pusher of the vacuum amplifier to a surface of the amplifier (including laying) on which the fixing flange of the main cylinder is established. The received values should be equal.
4. If the received values are not equal, turn the adjusting screw on the end of a pusher of the vacuum amplifier so to receive a demanded gap.
5. After completion of installation of the main cylinder and connection of tubes and hoses, it is necessary to adjust height of a pedal of a brake its free wheeling, and, also to pump over brake system. These operations are described in cоответствующих sections of this chapter.
